Could you handle the nightmare doorstep interview?

Arguably the toughest interview situation for even the most experienced of media operators is the doorstep interview.

If you find the media are camped outside your office, then your organisation is already in the headlines and it is unlikely to be for a good reason.

It’s easy for us to say ‘don’t panic’ but the reality is this is a daunting and challenging situation.

You may be inclined to run away, but you will be chased down the street by reporters and cameramen. This happened to Jeremy Corbyn shortly after he became the leader of the Labour Party and it did not turn out well.

Opt for ‘no comment’ and you will inflame the situation with equally negative coverage and customers wondering what you have to hide.

So what should you do?

We have produced a short video with Siân Jones, one of our expert media training tutors, to show you how to handle this initial, intense, scrutiny successfully and buy some time until you can deliver a more complete message.
